
Thursday, February 6, 2025, marked the opening of the new Children’s Play Area, designed to provide a fun and engaging space for families traveling through the Terminal. Inspired by the beauty of Orange County, the play area features interactive elements that reflect the region’s coastal charm, including a lifeguard tower, sea lion, sandcastle, and surfboard specially designed with “soft play” material. The space, conveniently located post-security next to the Nursing Mother’s Lounge (near Gate 11), promotes imagination, sensory play, and socializing while offering a safe and welcoming environment for families.

The Airport celebrated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony featuring remarks from Airport Director Charlene Reynolds, Vice Chair Katrina Foley, Fifth District Supervisor, and Jada Young, Disneyland Resort Ambassador. Families invited through Pretend City Children’s Museum in Irvine joined the festivities, along with Airport staff and travelers passing through the Terminal, making for a lively and joyful celebration of this new family-friendly space.
