John Wayne Airport is pleased to welcome Alisa Ochoa as our new Arts Curator. Alisa brings more than 20 years of experience in museum, gallery, and collections management, with a strong background in curating exhibitions, coordinating international installations, and fostering public engagement through the arts.
She most recently served as Co-Director of Tiger Strikes Asteroid, where she curated exhibitions, juried large-scale open-call shows, coordinated artist contracts and installations, and led exhibition materials and communications. Her career also includes work as an independent art consultant and curator, collections manager for a private contemporary collection, registrar at the James Cohan Gallery, and postdoctoral fellow at UC Santa Barbara, where she taught fine arts.
In her new role at JWA, Alisa will oversee the Airport’s Arts Program—including the Destination Gallery, Vi Smith Concourse Gallery, Community Focus Space, permanent art collection, and staff to the Airport Arts Commission—while leading exhibitions that highlight the region’s creativity and enrich the travel experience for millions of guests each year.
