U-n-I CAN End Hunger!

John Wayne Airport (JWA) is participating again in the Annual Orange County Canstruction® competition.

Fluor, which has sponsored Canstruction since its inception 12 years ago, built a magical unicorn using 5,255 cans of food. The structure, “Somewhere over the rainbow, U-n-I Can End Hunger!” features a shiny gold horn and long, flowing rainbow mane. Glitter on the floor represents the sparkling magic that unicorns bring to people’s lives.

The unicorn at JWA is one of nine structures included in the Canstruction® competition. The unique structures are judged in multiple categories, and once the viewing period is completed, the canned food is donated to the Orange County Food Bank.

“Canstruction OC is a lighthearted and engaging way to bring awareness to the serious subject of hunger in our community,” said Barry Rondinella, Airport Director for John Wayne Airport. “We are proud to participate in this worthwhile program.”

The structure will be on display through the end of September.
