John Wayne Airport Celebrates the one year anniversary of AirPAWS volunteer trading cards. They first debuted in September 2021 as a way to promote the four-legged ambassadors throughout the Terminal. Each of the fifteen animal ambassadors has a trading card with their photo, name, and fun fact.
AirPAWS human handlers are thrilled to share the trading cards with Airport guests and JWA, airline, and concession staff. Vino Volo staff have collected all 15 trading cards and Ducks Breakaway Bar staff are tailing close behind. AirPAWS ambassadors are so pup-ular, even pilots trade their wings to collect their trading cards.
In October 2022, one new team member will be joining the AirPAWS crew. They will be the 16th member to join the paw-ty. Terminal visitors will have the op-paw-tunity to meet this new ambassador and ask for their trading card.
And for folks that have already collected all of the trading cards, Patriot, a veteran volunteer, is debuting a second generation card. He is the first AirPAWS volunteer to have this new card. Be sure to keep an eye out for him in the Terminal to add his card to your collection!
Have you collected all of the AirPAWS trading cards? Visit the Thomas F. Riley Terminal and look for our furry ambassadors. It’s totally paw-ssible to catch em’ all.
The volunteers at JWA AirPAWS Therapy Dog Program are provided and trained by OC Animal Allies. For more information on AirPAWS and how to become a certified volunteer, visit ocanimalallies.org
