Are you interested in serving people by making their travel experience a pleasant one? Approximately 60 Volunteer Ambassadors who are local Orange County residents and experts in customer service, provide John Wayne Airport guests and travelers alike with a ‘warm welcome” by answering questions about directions, airlines, gates, rental car services and more.
“I find John Wayne Airport a very comfortable place to volunteer,” said Dana Hunter, Volunteer Ambassador. “Volunteering at the Airport has helped me to grow in interacting with the public, and I encourage others to try it. Each day is different, and I hope to be a positive moment in a person’s day.” Another aspect that Dana appreciates are the friendships with fellow volunteers and regular travelers she’s cultivated.
Dana’s service exemplifies the extraordinary guest experience provided at John Wayne Airport. Her commitment and enthusiasm are evident when she reports to her post at 5 a.m. and utilizes her language skills in French, Spanish and some Arabic to communicate and assist guests from throughout the world. Whether you have a question or are looking for a ‘warm welcome,’ feel free to keep an eye out for Dana and the entire team of Ambassadors the next time you’re at John Wayne Airport.
The Ambassador Program was established in 1998 to assist and provide friendly service to the now more than 10 million passengers traveling through the Airport each year (approximately 28,000 a day). Volunteers serve a four-hour shift twice a month and are easily spotted by their sharp red blazer or vest, khaki pants, white shirt and “May I Help You?” button. A volunteer’s work experience and career provide a foundation of helpfulness and professionalism to their role. Benefits include discounts on airport meals, free parking in a secure employee lot, volunteer recognition, specialized training, and participation in Airport events.
