A new exhibit featuring 15 different artists has opened in John Wayne Airport’s Vi Smith Concourse Gallery. Using a variety of shapes, colors, and textures, all original artworks are 4 ft. x 4 ft. abstract, non-representational paintings.
“With millions of guests traveling through the Airport each year, we provide a unique venue to feature the creative work of regional artists. The Thomas F. Riley Terminal provides an aesthetic backdrop showcasing these artists while offering a superior guest experience,” said Charlene Reynolds, Airport Director.
Artists living in any of the eight Southern California counties were eligible to apply for participation and were selected by the Airport Arts Commission. Each Arts Commissioner brought a unique mindset to the review and selection process, considering imagery, color, perspective, and texture.
The paintings are on exhibit from May 2022 through March 2023 in Terminals A and C, on the departure level post-security. Visit ArtsProgram for more information about all of John Wayne Airport’s museum-quality art exhibitions.
