Summer travel season is heating up, and John Wayne Airport (JWA) is helping passengers stay cool, celebrate the season, and create lasting family memories with a series of special events throughout the summer.
Stay Refreshed on Hydration Day – June 23
Travelers are encouraged to fill up and stay hydrated during their journey on Hydration Day, Tuesday, June 23, from 10 – 11:30 a.m. To promote both wellness and sustainability, JWA will distribute approximately 450 stainless steel water bottles* at water refill stations located post-security in each Terminal (near restrooms). Whether you’re heading out on vacation or returning home, it’s the perfect opportunity to grab a reusable keepsake and make hydration part of your travel plans.

Sweeten Your Journey – July 2
Nothing says summer quite like a frozen treat. On Thursday, July 2, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., JWA will celebrate Ice Cream Month and the upcoming Independence Day holiday by giving away 300 red, white, and blue rocket popsicles to travelers. Guests can enjoy a refreshing snack as they kick off their Fourth of July weekend adventures and add a little extra fun to their holiday travel experience.
Celebrate National Aviation Day with Family Fun – August 19
As summer winds down, JWA is inviting travelers to enjoy a special end-of-summer celebration on Wednesday, August 19, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., which coincides with National Aviation Day. The Airport’s Play Area will come alive with face painting, balloon twisting, and exciting giveaways for children, including activity guides, crayons, and airplane squish toys. It’s a great opportunity for families to enjoy some pre-flight fun while celebrating the wonder of aviation.
