30th Annual Student Art Contest

John Wayne Airport invites Orange County public and private school students, grades K-12, to enter the 30th Annual John Wayne Airport Student Art Contest. Students can tap into their imagination, grab their favorite set of crayons, markers, pencils or paints and create artwork depicting this year’s theme “FLYING: YESTERDAY AND TOMORROW.”

John Wayne Airport Issues Call for Artists

Calling all Orange County-related visual artists! John Wayne Airport (JWA) invites local artists to apply for solo-style exhibition slots in the JWA Community Focus Space (CFS) program’s monthly exhibition calendar with exhibition slots opening December 17, 2020. Join the many talented artists who have showcased their artwork to elevate the overall Airport guest experience.

Tickle the Ivories

John Wayne Airport has launched Play Me! Piano in the Thomas F. Riley Terminal. Airport guests now have the opportunity to pass the time, relax before a flight, and impress their fellow travelers as they sit down at the Avant Grand piano located post-security on the upper level between Terminals A and B.

Blazing Trails

Blaze Fast-Fire’d Pizza is opening soon at John Wayne Airport. Recognized as a leader in fast artisanal pizza, the chain will open this June adjacent to Javi’s in Terminal B/C. The 1,094 sq. ft. restaurant includes plenty of seating in the large food court area.

Helping Hands Wins CAPIO Award

John Wayne Airport (JWA) is pleased to have received a 2019 Excellence in Public Information & Communications (EPIC) Award of Distinction for our “Helping Hands” program launch event from the California Association of Public Information Officials (CAPIO). The EPIC Awards are presented annually by CAPIO to honor outstanding public agency information and communications programs.

Aviation Legacy – Eleanor Todd

In 1989, the John Wayne Airport Tour Program started for those interested in learning more about the Airport and its history. John Wayne Airport invited The Ninety-Nines, Inc., the International Organization of Women Pilots, founded in 1929, specifically the Orange County Chapter, to be part of their inaugural tour guide program. This was quite a privilege and long-time member and pilot Eleanor Todd was among the first to jump in and help. In the long run, she created a great partnership with the Airport.

Collect All 38 Airport Trading Cards

As you travel around the country this summer, check to see if the airport has an official North American Airports Collectors Series™ trading card – including John Wayne Airport. JWA recently released its 2nd trading card, which includes information about key events in the Airport’s history.

Travelers Urged to Plan Ahead

With a record number of passengers expected at airports during the busy summer travel season, now through Labor Day, John Wayne Airport encourages travelers to plan accordingly to avoid delays and enjoy stress-free holiday travel.

Improvement Project Completed!

John Wayne Airport has completed the Terminals A and B Improvements Project 16 weeks ahead of schedule and more than $1.08 million under budget. The phased endeavor included numerous safety, code compliance, comfort, convenience and aesthetic improvements.
