John Wayne Airport (JWA) invites local artists to apply for solo-style exhibition slots in the JWA Community Focus Space (CFS) program’s monthly exhibition calendar with exhibition slots opening December 17, 2020. Join the many talented artists who have showcased their artwork to elevate the overall Airport guest experience.
Granting Wishes One Air Mile at a Time
The ‘Trips that Transform’ campaign takes flight during August at John Wayne Airport through a partnership with Make-A-Wish® Orange County and the Inland Empire to help grant wishes for local children battling critical illnesses through the donation of unused, low balance or soon-to-expire airlines miles for American, Delta, JetBlue, Southwest, or United Airlines.
JWA Goes High-Tech
Navigating through John Wayne Airport just got even easier. New interactive wayfinding signage combines high-tech with convenience, offering access to interactive LED digital touch-screens located in the Thomas F. Riley Terminal.
JWA Welcomes Veterans
John Wayne Airport (JWA) welcomed wounded veterans from throughout the United States for a weeklong event with Operation Surf in Huntington Beach. Fifteen active-duty veterans arrived at JWA on June 3 and were greeted by an ovation of volunteers from the Bob Hope USO at JWA, Orange County Sheriff’s Department (OCSD), California Highway Patrol (CHP), local law enforcement officers and JWA staff.
Alzheimer’s Awareness Month
Every 65 seconds, someone in the U.S. develops Alzheimer’s Disease. It is the 6th leading cause of death in the United States. 5.8 million Americans are currently living with the disease, and it is expected that the number will increase to 14 million by 2050.
Tickle the Ivories
John Wayne Airport has launched Play Me! Piano in the Thomas F. Riley Terminal. Airport guests now have the opportunity to pass the time, relax before a flight, and impress their fellow travelers as they sit down at the Avant Grand piano located post-security on the upper level between Terminals A and B.
JWA Tees It Up at Hoag Classic
John Wayne Airport is proud to be a Community Partner and “Official Airport” for the 2019 Hoag Classic, one of the most prestigious events on the PGA TOUR Champions. The Hoag Classic tees off at the Newport Beach Country Club March 6-10, 2019 and hosts the finest field of professional golfers, including Vijay Singh who won last year, Fred Couples, John Daly and Tom Kite.
John Wayne Airport 29th Annual Student Art Contest
John Wayne Airport has announced the winners of its 29th Annual Student Art Contest, themed “My Dream To Fly.” Among 750 entries received from public and private schools across Orange County, students Yue Zhang from College Park Elementary School and Katherine Gasper from Santa Margarita Catholic High School were recognized as Grand Prize winners in this year’s contest.
